At the annual GPCA Plastics Conference themed “Innovating for Sustainable Growth,” an initiative supporting start-ups in the circular economy, clean energy transition, and climate change mitigation was unveiled. Eugene Willemsen, CEO of Africa, Middle East, and South Asia at PepsiCo, highlighted the program’s potential to address the MENA region’s climate challenges and bolster global climate innovation.
Two Egyptian start-ups were featured. Viridia Tech offers a crop analytics platform that enhances yield, unit economics, and sustainability metrics for industrial agriculture through scalable solutions. P-VITA, a biotechnology hub, focuses on producing natural raw materials for the cosmetics and food & beverage industries. It leverages AI and IoT technologies to automate processes and reduce carbon footprints. These innovations aim to drive sustainable practices in agriculture and bioproducts, showcasing Egypt’s contributions to environmental technology advancements.
